3. Codes of Conduct and Behaviours


As a responsible Bolton Hockey Club member*, I will:

  • Respect the rights, dignity and worth of every player, coach, official and others involved in hockey and treat everyone equally
  • Act with dignity and display courtesy and good manners towards others
  • Not use abusive and offensive language and irresponsible behaviour including behaviour that is dangerous to myself or others, acts of violence, bullying, harassment and physical and sexual abuse
  • Uphold the same values of sportsmanship off the field as I do when engaged in hockey
  • Avoid destructive behaviour and leave facilities as I find them
  • Not carry any items that could be dangerous to myself or others excluding hockey equipment used in participation
  • Cooperate fully with others involved in the sport such as coaches, officials, team managers, physiotherapists, spectators, other players and representatives of England Hockey in the best interests of myself and others
  • Consistently promote positive aspects of the club and sport such as fair play, respect, friendship and rights to play
  • Never condone rule violations or the use of prohibited or age-inappropriate substances
  • Not carry or consume alcohol to excess and/or engage with illegal substances or any inappropriate or illegal behaviour
  • Anticipate and be responsible for my own needs including being organised, dressing appropriately, having the appropriate equipment and being on time
  • Challenge inappropriate behaviour and language by others
  • Be aware that I am a representative of Bolton Hockey Club and uphold the values and behaviours of the club
