Bolton Men's 1st team edged out Lymm in a gripping 4-3 victory.
The game started evenly with Lymm having the better of possession, but Bolton looking the more threatening in attack. Lymm opened the scoring in the 23rd minute after Bolton gave the ball away cheaply at the back. However, Bolton quickly responded through Sam Robinson’s drag flick from a penalty corner a few minutes later. Just before half time Lymm re-took the lead from a penalty corner. The initial shot was well saved by Charlie Hardman in the Bolton goal, however the rebound was firmly struck into the bottom corner giving the goalkeeper no chance and Lymm a 2-1 lead at the break.
Bolton surged back in the second half. Nathan Watts equalized in the 45th minute deflecting Sam Robinsons effort past the Lymm keeper. 5 minutes later Bolton keeper Charlie Hardman received a yellow card for bringing down a Lymm forward who was clear through on goal. This also resulted in a penalty stroke, which was soundly converted with makeshift keeper Ryan Aldred standing in. Bolton elected to carry on with 10 men outfield and soon after Captain Philip Meachin brought the scores back level once again from a well worked penalty corner. The final few minutes remained tense. However, with 1 minute left on the clock Sam Robinson sealed the win with another penalty corner goal.
