Report by Scott Mather

Bolton turned up to the game against Rochdale in good form following their 3 game winning streak. However, they were well aware of the challenges they would face as they had lost the same fixture exactly a year earlier.

Both teams marked their respects ahead of Armistice day prior to push back. Bolton started the game strongly, showing their dominance by keeping possession of the ball for lengthy periods of play. It was a new look midfield with Scott, Joel and Lee making up the middle of the park. This allowed Sam Robinson more freedom up front and he made it show by putting the opposition defence under immense pressure throughout the whole game. On the 20th minute mark Lee Ramagge opened up Boltons account despite playing a little deeper in the formation he still managed to find the goal. Pouncing on a defensive mix up thanks to a well worked press from the front line. Rochdale had a couple of attacks themselves but the centre back pairing of Aldred and Meachin were more than capable of keeping the experienced home attack at bay. Full backs Nikhil and Subbu were continuously available to give the away side outlets down the left and right hand side, in turn, one Nikhil aerial led to Bolton doubling their lead with that man Lee Ramagge on hand to hit the back of the net once again.

Half time 2-0.

The attacks seemed to die down in the second half, with Bolton increasing their possession on the ball by seeing the game out with authority. Occasionally turning possession over when Keith “bambi on ice” Stanley managed to fall to the ground for yet another time. Many dives Tom Daley would have been impressed with. ‘Stand in’ goalkeeper Sam Williams was on hand when needed earning a well deserved clean sheet for himself and the team. One particular great save was made down to his right hand side following a well worked Rochdale short corner.

Bolton turned their 3 match winning streak into 4. Ahead of what will be a tough game against Timperley who come to Leverhulme Pavilion with a 100% record.

Man of the match was tough for this game as every individual gave the team something different across the pitch. However, full back Subbu took the accolade following another great performance and seems to have hit form at the right time for Bolton!
